In a discussion of the history and current conception of a unified or corporate humanity, I found the lack of a reference the conception of The Church in the Pauline Epistles a bit jarring. I kept expecting to see it, even if only as a contrast.
It would have been the oldest conception listed here and the oldest I am directly aware of although I would not be surprised if there were others.
An interesting read regardless, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
